A Windows Server with .NET installed (Framework or Core), the IIS web server and usually an MS SQL database. Linux hosting isn't suitable for classic ASP.NET (though .NET Core runs on Linux too).
.NET Core / .NET 5+ — yes, it's cross-platform. But classic ASP.NET (Framework) needs Windows only. If your app uses the old Framework, choose a Windows VPS.
The Windows Server licence is usually included in the Windows VPS price. MS SQL Express is free; full MS SQL is a separate licence. Check with the provider.
Via RDP (Windows Remote Desktop) — there you configure IIS, deploy the app and manage the database. It's the standard tool for Windows servers.
