Dedicated servers 2026: bare metal rental

Dedicated servers cost more than VPS but deliver guaranteed resources and maximum performance. Key things to check: processor type (Intel Xeon vs AMD EPYC), RAM capacity and type (DDR4/DDR5), disk type (NVMe/SAS) and port bandwidth (1/10 Gbps).

When you actually need dedicated rather than VPS. If a VPS is enough, don't overpay. You take a dedicated server when you need all CPU cores with no neighbours (a high-load site, a large database, game servers with 100+ slots), when you need hardware isolation for security or compliance, or for specific hardware (GPU, many disks in RAID). Rule of thumb: consistently over 70% load on a powerful VPS means it's time to move to dedicated.

What it costs in 2026. A budget dedicated server (older-gen Xeon, 32 GB RAM) starts at $40–70/mo, current configs (AMD EPYC/Ryzen, 64–128 GB RAM, NVMe) run $90–200/mo, top-end from $300. The EU (Germany, Netherlands) is cheapest thanks to data-centre density; Ukraine costs more but gives local latency and in-country data storage.

Managed or unmanaged. An unmanaged server is cheaper, but you administer the OS, updates and security yourself or via your own devops. Managed costs more but the provider handles monitoring, updates and support. Also check: whether IPMI/KVM access is included, hardware-replacement time on failure and traffic terms (often unmetered on a 1 Gbps port).
