How cloud differs from VPS and dedicated. A regular VPS is tied to one physical machine: if it goes down, your site goes down. The cloud runs on a cluster, so when a node fails the load automatically shifts to others. Hence the main advantage — fault tolerance and uptime a single server can't match, plus the ability to add CPU/RAM on the fly with no migration.

Pay-as-you-go billing. Unlike a fixed VPS plan, the cloud usually bills for actual usage (running hours, traffic, disk). That's efficient for uneven load: on quiet days the bill is small, at peak you scale and pay more only then. The flip side is a less predictable bill, so track usage and set limits/alerts.

Who it suits. The cloud is ideal for projects with traffic spikes: online stores during sales (Black Friday), media with viral posts, SaaS and growing apps. Autoscaling raises capacity under a surge and lowers it afterward — you don't pay for 'just-in-case' headroom like on a permanent dedicated server.

How to choose and when you don't need it. Look at data-centre regions (closer to your audience = lower latency), snapshots/backups, network speed and how convenient the panel is for scaling. If your load is stable and predictable, a regular fixed-price VPS is often cheaper and simpler than the cloud. The cloud earns its keep precisely with variable load and a need for high fault tolerance.
