One of the world's best connectivity hubs. Amsterdam is home to AMS-IX, one of the largest internet exchanges on the planet, so servers in the Netherlands route superbly everywhere. Latency from Kyiv is 25–35 ms — almost like within the EU, but with top-tier global reach. That makes NL a default for projects with a global or European audience.
Why people choose the Netherlands. Beyond connectivity — a balance of reliable infrastructure and more content-friendly legislation. It's a convenient home for international services, CDN nodes, media and projects that need EU stability without extra bureaucracy. Data centres are mostly Tier III+ with redundant power and uplinks.
Who it suits and who it doesn't. NL is an excellent choice if your audience is spread across the EU/world or you need abuse resistance and a neutral jurisdiction. But if 80%+ of visitors are in Ukraine, a local UA server still gives lower latency; and for a purely Polish or German audience the respective countries are closer. So the Netherlands is the 'default European hub', not a replacement for local hosting.
