Linux VPS 2026: provider ranking

Linux is the standard for web servers: free, stable, secure and light on resources. Over 90% of the world's websites run on Linux servers.

A Linux VPS is cheaper than Windows (no licence fee) and ideal for sites, databases, APIs and containers. The most popular distributions are Ubuntu (beginner-friendly), Debian (stable) and AlmaLinux/Rocky (a CentOS replacement). Managed via SSH or a panel (cPanel, ISPmanager).

Bottom line: for most projects in Ukraine the ideal VPS means NVMe storage, a 99.9%+ SLA, a convenient panel and support in your language. Start with the ranking leaders above and compare them side by side.

Frequently asked questions

Linux is free, stable, secure and light on resources. Over 90% of the world's sites run on Linux, so all web technologies are optimized for it.
Ubuntu — most beginner-friendly with lots of documentation. Debian — maximally stable. AlmaLinux/Rocky — a CentOS replacement for those used to the RHEL ecosystem.
Linux is cheaper because it needs no OS licence fee. For sites, databases, APIs and containers, Linux is the optimal choice. Windows is only needed for specific software (1C, MS SQL, .NET).
Basically yes, but a control panel (cPanel, ISPmanager) lets you manage sites via a web interface. For a complete beginner, a VPS with a bundled panel is better.
